Why Teddy Bears?
While the idea of reading to a teddy bear might seem whimsical, it serves a purpose beyond mere play. Imaginary or inanimate companions provide a non-judgmental and supportive audience for young readers. Children may feel more comfortable expressing themselves in the presence of a beloved toy, fostering a positive attitude toward reading.
Reading to a teddy bear also helps develop important social and emotional skills. It encourages empathy and nurtures a sense of responsibility as children take on the role of the “teacher” during storytime. This imaginative play not only enhances language development but also contributes to the child’s overall emotional intelligence.
Impact Measurement
Our organization tracks the progress of participating children through regular reading assessments, surveys, and feedback from parents, teachers, and caregivers. We aim to see increased reading proficiency, confidence, and enthusiasm for reading in children who engage with our programs.
